Infobox discussion

[edit]

While Shinkichi Mitsumune is the main composer for Utena and J.A. Seazer wrote the songs featured in the series, I wonder what we can do about listing the composers in the infobox, since the convention is to list the primary composer who scored the series (in this case, it's Mitsumune) and not everyone should be listed there (i.e. co-producers and executive producers in the producer parameter, co-directors in the director parameter, etc.). See also the discussion at Template talk:Infobox animanga#Music parameter.

Thoughts? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 23:06, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That's why I added a note you previously removed about Saezer's involvement. He's not given main credit, but his contributions seem noteworthy enough to indicate at least to that degree. Sarca sc (talk) 00:50, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I know. As Seazer's songwriting contributions are already mentioned in the lead, should we get a WP:CONSENSUS on whether to remove the Seazer footnote from the infobox if needed per the revised Template:Infobox animanga guidelines? Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 01:36, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I think Seazer should be included in the infobox. I imagine the guidance at Template:Infobox animanga that composers credited for "additional music" and songwriters should not be included is intended to avoid infobox bloating, but I believe Seazer's contribution to the series is significant enough to merit inclusion here. Clear case of WP:IGNORE imo. Morgan695 (talk) 02:01, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, one of the reasons why I recently implemented that guideline is to avoid any potential infobox bloating (like adding credits for executive producers, associate producers, co-directors, assistant directors and so on). Of course, TV series and film credits can be complex, especially when it comes to music and animation. Other similar discussions like the ones regarding the Infobox film template come to mind. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 02:03, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It is not a musical so generally there is no justification for listing anyone other than the principal composer in the infobox. However, if it is the considered judgment of involved editors that the article is improved by adding other significant composers/songwriters to the list, the article itself gives significant support, and consensus achieved just WP:IAR and do it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:02, 7 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have the same opinion on this as Morgan695 and Geraldo Perez. It seems there's a good reason make an exception here, so make an exception. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 02:04, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

So, it looks like we'll keep the note regarding Seazer's involvement in the infobox for the time being pending a potential consensus on the matter or unless someone objects. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 00:09, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

TV series template?

[edit]

There was a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#Template question on Spy × Family (TV series) regarding the use of the {{Infobox television}} template in anime television series articles. Can we use this particular template for this series or leave it be since it has manga and light novel adaptations? Feedback from interested editors would be appreciated. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 05:42, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I would say leave it since it has manga and light novel adaptations. Historyday01 (talk) 13:27, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
