Proposed: Break out Treatment of addiction into a separate article

[edit]

Given the substantial overall length of this article, currently over 272K, I propose that we break out the section Addiction#Treatment and management into a new article on Treatment of addiction (currently a redirect), which would parallel the existence of articles like Treatment of mental disorders, Treatment of bipolar disorder, and Treatment of Rett syndrome. Hearing no objection, I am moving forward with this. Cheers! BD2412 T 16:00, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Brain positron emission image does not tell us anything useful

[edit]

The image on the right side of the page, on brain metabolism and cocaine addiction suggests cocaine addiction can be easily spotted in the brain. However, if this would be so clear, it would be really easy to diagnose people that are addicted. The image in itself does not tell us anything without a proper explanation what causes the images to differ, and if this only occurs for cocaine and not other brain processes.

I would suggest at least a disclaimer would be useful, however putting it in the body of the article would make more sense. Nappeklapper (talk) 00:10, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
